Independence Day 2011

We had our Independence Day dinner celebration on the third. I love this holiday!

This is a thrifty tablescape, too. I’ll list the patriotic participants at the end.

Flags and stars are some of my favorites.

My sweet friend “S” gifted me with these beautiful star napkin rings for my birthday. Each one has a different design. Love them!

There is something about red, white, and blue that just makes my heart sing.

Our menu included my husband’s fabulous barbecued chicken with his special sauce, his grandmother’s recipe mustard cole slaw, green bean salad, baked beans (find recipe here), Kansas cucumbers, and turkey hot dogs. (It’s not the 4th, or the 3rd in this case, without hot dogs!)

The grand finale was Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Cake. Delicious! Find the recipe and step-by-step directions by Janet at The Empty Nest.

Happy Birthday, America! I hope my fellow Americans took time to celebrate the independence of our country and the many freedoms we are blessed to enjoy each day thanks to the sacrifices of many.

Patriotic Participants:

Blue wooden chargers – yard sale

White dinner plates and mini bowls from set by Gibson, HomeGoods

Red dessert plates, Tracy Porter’s Jolly Ol’ Snowy, thrifted

Silver star napkin rings, gifted by “S”

Patriotic placemats, thrifted

Mini milk glass vases, thrifted

I hope to join parties at StoneGables’s On The Menu Monday, A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday, Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday, and Thrifty Tablescape at The Thrifty Groove.

    Tammy,

You are as talented as Stilson when it comes to setting a beautiful table!!! My goodness, it looked spectacular. Your pics should be in a July magazine (not to mention all of the delicious looking food pics). I enjoy looking at the pictures of all of your flea market/thrift shop finds so much. I was in Richmond a couple of weeks ago and was in a church thrift shop where they had sooooo many plates, glasses, etc. Could not help but thinking of you and how much you would’ve loved that place.

  4. Love your tables cape! I love dishes too my new friend! Where do we put them all?

Cute centerpieces, and love your placemats. Ok, what are Kansas cucumbers? Cukes in sour cream and vinegar? That ‘s what we fix. Just wanted to know since I am in Kansas, and maybe I am missing something. All your menu looks soooo good.

Tammy, Your patriotically dressed table looks so festive- just the right amount of color and accessories. I love the flags in the white bud vases look so cute- like a line of little soldiers waving their patriotism in the air! The napkin rings are so whimsical and the food table looks as if I could dig right in and indulge myself. We didn’t celebrate with a cook-out this year. Much too busy. So I’m eating vicariously through you! LOL hmmm…. maybe that’s how I should diet…
