Sometimes It Only Takes One

Yard sales are usually sparse on holiday weekends and Easter weekend was no different. It didn’t help that the weather was rainy and unseasonably cold. I was still on a high from my day-long thrift shop crawl with “S” (see here and here) so I wasn’t relying too heavily on a huge yard sale day anyway.

As it turns out, the one yard sale we found was a good one and made the day. Thankfully they held their sale in their double garage, keeping the items and the shoppers out of the wet weather.

I found three adorable puzzles for 25 cents each. This puzzle with a momma and her pups reminded me of Lassie. I love the playfulness of the puppies and the sweetness of the whole scene.

The last two are such darling depictions from the pages of the Golden Books.

The bunny rabbit and mouse are having quite a belly laugh over something. The animals gathered ’round the table are each interesting in their own way. I love the vintage illustrations of all these puzzles. I wonder if they are vintage or if they were originally made to look so. Does anyone know?

I was tickled with my puzzle purchases, but didn’t stop with them. I found a Southern Living at Home Rustic Rooster Candelabra NEW in the box.

I actually bought two of these, as one will be a gift for my sweet mother-in-law who also loves decorating with roosters. But, shhh, don’t tell her; I want it to be a surprise.

I love it when the only yard sale in town proves to be a winner; sometimes it only takes one!

This weekend I’m actually participating in a community yard sale with my friend ‘S”. Be sure to stop by later to see what goodies I might find there!

I hope to join the parties at Apron Thrift Girl’s Thrift Share MondayFlea Market Finds at Her Library Adventures, Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays at Coastal Charm, Thrifty Thursday at Tales from Bloggeritaville, and  Thrifty Things Friday at The Thrifty Groove.

  3. Great finds! You are much more generous than I…I would have kept both of those great candelabra because I always look for a pair of everything to use in my tablescapes. Really good looking pieces. Thank you for sharing your bounty and for dropping by my post. Cherry Kay

  8. Hi…this is my first visit and I am intrigued with your header photo – are the teacups displayed on a candle holder – or is it specifically made for teacups? LOVE IT!! Thanks for visiting Pandora’s Box! patti

    • Hi Patti, thanks for stopping by. The teacups are sitting on a candle holder. They were just the right size to fit nicely. Glad you enjoyed your visit. Please stop by again! Tammy
