I tell you it is a great thing when your friends “spot” for you at thrift shops! “S” was doing some lunchtime thrifting when she spotted some lovely dishes for me. She told me exactly where they were located in the store. So I headed that direction during my lunch hour. I walked by them twice before I saw them! Thank goodness “S” has better spotting skills than I do. I never would have seen them if I hadn’t really been looking for them.
The box included four cups, saucers, salad/dessert plate, and napkin rings. There are four different designs: Corn Marigold, Texas Bluebonnet (shown above), Cyclamen, and Bird’s Foot Violet. They are each edged in gold. They are From the Private Collection of Georges Briard, the Victorian Garden. I just fell in love with them and feel very fortunate that “S” is so willing to spot and share. This whole set cost only $7.75.
While I was looking for these adorable dishes, I ran across some pretty blue plates, really chargers, made by Land’s End. I got a set of four for $4.75.
I also found six yellow napkins ($2.00) and a candle stand like one I already have (pairs are better, yes?) for $2.50.
Limited time on Saturday meant we (the Scottish Terriers accompanied us) couldn’t get to as many yard sales as if we had all the time in the world. Of course, there are always lots of sales when you can’t get to them. Isn’t that always the way?
We stopped at a few before I found something worth bringing back to the car. My first find was very exciting for me as I have been searching and searching for a Scrabble game just about everywhere. I found one at a very unlikely sale for $2. I picked up the little protectors for 25 cents.
The next sale we went to was a fundraiser. I try to make those as I feel they are win/win. I can contribute to a good cause and hopefully get a bargain as well. I was lucky today, I found this glass candleholder for $1.00. The extra wax that came with it cleaned up nicely. 🙂
Our last good sale of the day was well-signed (usually a good “sign” – no pun intended). It was a large sale with great parking. Love that! I found a little frame with possibilities (25 cents) and five pieces of vintage embroidered runners for $1.75. I was very, very happy with my $2 purchases.
Each of the above pieces was 25 cents each. Can you believe it? The ones following were 50 cents each.
Not bad for a short day of yard saling!
I hope to join the parties at Apron Thrift Girl’s Thrift Share Monday, Flea Market Finds at Her Library Adventures, Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays at Coastal Charm, Thrifty Thursday at Tales from Bloggeritaville, Treasure Hunt Thursday at Blue Creek Home and Thrifty Things Friday at The Thrifty Groove.

wow I love those Linens!! Scarlett x
Great Scrabble game, I have been looking for a Scrabble game for a while, also. At the Goodwill I found a Scrabble Deluxe edition, this one has the dark colored letter and the board turns. I paid $2.99. I like your Scrabble game better. I will continue the hunt. Great thrifts you found this weekend.
What wonderful finds! I LOVE your new dishes!
Wow, Tammy, those dishes are GORGEOUS! What a find, especially for that price! I also have that black iron candleholder — love it — and how nice that you have a pair now! Thanks for visiting my table this week!

Those dishes are beautiful. I’ve never seen napkin rings that match dishes.
I hate when there are great shopping possibilities right under my nose, and for what ever reason, I can’t stop and check it out!!

Tammy, I love those dishes! Great finds, I am jealous!
You did get some nice finds. Glad they did not charge extra for the wax. 😀
Have a great weekend.
LOVE the garden dishes! What a great find for that price! I found a Georges Briand cake plate on a pedestal last week that I was drawn to…I did not know he also had dishes. The cake plate is a totally different style- clear glass and silver- not usually what I buy….but I did!
